Peru's forgotten grains

The Apu, the spirits of the mountains, are said to inhabit these high peaks in Peru. And it's not hard to believe when you look at the slightly undulating landscape of the plateau that surrounds Lake Titicaca, from Puno to the Bolivian border. As the mountains go down, the quinoa fields are surprising, with their beautiful colors: yellow, red, pink, purple, green. Their tall tassels sway in the wind and bend under the weight of birds stealing their seeds.
